Product Noise Cataloguing and Troubleshooting with NoiseBook

NEW_noise.gifMalfunctions in motor vehicles, motors, and other products are often accompanied by disturbing noise. In fact, noise is often the first sign of a malfunction. The characteristic of a noise enables experienced engineers to identify the cause of faults and develop a strategy of countermeasures. However, the challenge for engineers is that noises are volatile and are often difficult to describe. Without an appropriate tool for recording and archiving noises, engineers are only able to discuss noises that are literally right in front of them. Furthermore, it may be difficult to draw upon experiences with product noise problems and their associated faults from past projects for use in solving current noise issues.

NoiseBook allows you to GET your Noise together:

Gather noises made by your products where and when they occur. Simply put on the innovative headphone-microphone headset and click the record icon when you hear the noise you wish to record. Then click on the Playback icon to verify that the noise was captured.

Evaluate noises using the simultaneous listen-filter-analyze feature. Use bandstop or bandpass filters in combination with spectral plots to quickly isolate and identify noise attributes. RPM or speed based analyses can also be done to determine rotational speed and other related noise problems.

Troubleshoot using the noise comparison and database features of NoiseBook. Up to 6 noises may be displayed at one time to easily compare the current noise to archived events. The noise database can include product type, operating condition, and causal information to assist you in troubleshooting noise problems. For further analyses, the noise may be compressed using the MP3 feature and sent via the Internet to the engineering department.

NoiseBook recordings are 100% compatible with the ArtemiS Analysis System.
