HEAD acoustics: Sound and Vibration

ArtemiS COM-Interface Seminar

TBA   Brighton, MI

HEAD acoustics is pleased to offer a special one week training course on creating custom ArtemiS programs using the COM Interface. This interface allows the user to control all of the essential functions of ArtemiS using programming languages such as C#, C++ or Visual Basic. This course will train users on developing programs that range from simply automating regularly repeated measurements, to creating custom interfaces, to building complete applications that follow standard procedures for measurement, reporting, and databasing results. ArtemiS can operate in a server-client function with outside applications, to run automated test cells, quality control stations, or in-process sound and vibration monitoring.

This seminar is designed for any ArtemiS user that needs to automate the use of ArtemiS functions.

No programming experience is necessary since A two day familiarization with Visual Basic is included as part of the course. Attendees should be familiar with ArtemiS and own the ArtemiS Programming Module ATP 13.

Seminar Outline

Day 1

  • Programming basics and the principles of Visual Basic; the Visual Basic Editor; object oriented programming (objects, properties, methods, events), development environment of VBA
  • Modules, user-forms and user-defined dialog fields, procedures, and functions
  • Data-types, variables and constants; arithmetic instructions
  • Decision structures and loops

Day 2

  • General rules for programmers dealing with errors
  • Advanced data-type processing, file management
  • User-defined dialog fields; file management;
  • Event handling
  • Use of external dll-files

Day 3

  • COM Basics; COM via VBA; ArtemiS Objects and Mark Control
  • Export and Import; Play Control and Speed Meter
  • Filter and Volume Control; Analysis and Diagrams
  • MarkAnalyser and Filter; Signal Generator Objects

Day 4

  • Merge Editor; Recording and SQlab
  • Specification of the tasks; discussion of possible solutions
  • Working at the tasks
  • Presenting the results; discussion of the results

The following is example of how the ArtemiS COM Interface can be used to automate several calculations of an ArtemiS project. When the custom calculation button is depressed, a series of 4 analyses are initiated on a four channel file; the first one calculates Level vs. Time on Channel 1, the second one calculates FFT vs. Time on Channel 2, the third one calculates FFT on Channel 3, and the fourth one calculates 1/3 octave on Channel 4. After the analyses are complete, the 4 results are presented on one diagram window.
